Santiago de la Ribera has a very lovely promenade flanked by attractive palm trees and with Summer beach bars, cafes and restaurants along its route. Today La Ribera continues to be popular with the Spanish for their vacations but also attracts visitors from all over Europe. It has a modern air, without being over developed and still retains a lot of its original character and charm.
The 4 kms of fine sandy beaches with calm, shallow waters, are ideal for all kinds of water sports and activities as well as for taking time to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Cycling is very popular with the flat terrain and cycle tracks make it safe for all. From the Marina you can take a boat trip around the calm waters of the mar Menor or take a ferry across to La Manga Strip on the opposite side of the bay.
The Romería de San Blas is one of the most well-known festivals in Murcia, which takes place at the beginning of February. During the summer in Santiago de la Ribera, they also celebrate the Festival of the Virgen del Carmen with a maritime procession and popular street parties.
The newly extended Dos Mares shopping centre is nearby and has a wide range of shops, family friendly restaurants, an arcade and bowling alley.
