Today La Ribera is still popular with the Spanish for their vacations but also attracts visitors from all over Europe and although it has a modern air, it has still maintained a lot if its original charm and has not been spoilt by overdevelopment.

The 4 kms of fine sandy beaches with calm, shallow waters, are ideal for all kinds of water sports and activities or just relaxing on the beach. From the Marina you can take a boat trip around the calm waters of the mar Menor or take a ferry across to La Manga Strip on the opposite side of the bay.

The newly extended 'Dos Mares' shopping centre is nearby and has a wide range of shops, family friendly restaurants, a large Carrefour supermarket, bowling alley, and a large DIY store.. A little further is the popular retail and leisure development at La Zenia (20 minutes by car). The major cities of Cartagena and Murcia are also easily reached by the excellent motorway network.

Santiago de la Ribera is just a 15 minute drive from San Javier airport and 45 minutes from Alicante. It is the perfect location for a holiday home or a permanent residence. Whilst the population grows in Summer, unlike some destinations it does not become “ dead “ in Winter and has a healthy number of permanent residents which sustain local business, services and activities.
